Covid & Health Classroom Policy

As part of our ongoing risk assessment process, we have reviewed our existing risk assessments, policies, procedures, emergency plans and those of our venue with relation to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and our in-person training.

All changes to services and procedures are to meet Government guidelines and good practice as recommended by the Meeting Industry Association (MIA).

The amendment to HypnoTC classroom policy has been made to reflect the risk of transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19), which mainly occurs through respiratory droplets generated during breathing, talking, coughing and sneezing.

Infection can occur directly via close contact (eg inhalation) or indirectly (eg via contaminated surfaces then introduced to the mouth or eyes of an uninfected person).

This policy has been further revised over time to take into consideration the most recent government guidelines relating to COVID-19. This policy has been expanded to include any other infectious or contagious conditions.

KEY POINTS

Student health
  • By attending class each day, students are self-declaring that they are free from symptoms of COVID or any other infectious/ contagious condition.
  • Should a student be clearly unwell to the extent that their learning, or that of other students, is affected, they may be asked to go home.
  • If symptoms or testing result in a training day/weekend being missed, a catchup session (or catch-up hours) will be required.

Classroom activities
  • Students and tutors are presently not required to wear a mask/ face shield in class. If a student wishes to wear a mask/ face shield in class they may.
  • Hand sanitiser will be available to all students, and it is recommended that all students sanitise before and after any practical activities where physical contact occurs.
  • Students are encouraged to maintain good hand hygiene including appropriate hand washing.

Contingency planning
  • In the event of government requirements or restrictions, these will be observed and classes will be postponed/ rescheduled, or precautions revised, as appropriate.

Students personal risk assessment

It is important for all students to consider their own personal risk assessment for joining in-person training. This risk assessment is particularly important for anyone considered to be at a higher level of risk. This may be due to underlying health conditions or:

  • from a vulnerable group/ deemed to be at significant risk.
  • if you are in contact with people who are vulnerable.

All students are encouraged to consider appropriate control measures to reduce their own personal risks to a level they feel are acceptable. It is important for you to think through the risks you identify, looking to minimise risk where you can. Questions you may wish to consider include:

  • Are you already at an increased level of risk due to a health concern?
  • What measures can you put into place to reduce any identified risks eg social distancing, hand-washing and specifically changing clothes and showering/ bathing on return home?
  • How long and busy will your commute be? As well as wearing a mask, if you choose to, what else can you do?

Keeping you safe: our commitment to you and your commitment to us

Whilst HypnoTC will take reasonable steps to provide an appropriate environment by coming to class, students confirm acceptance that they do so at their own risk, that they accept the control measures within this policy document and they will take all reasonable steps to ensure their own health and wellbeing during all class attendances.

In general, taking appropriate measures, including whilst travelling to/ from class, hand hygiene and social distancing, where necessary, radically reduces the risks in all areas.

We will…

  • Help you risk assess whether it is right for you to attend class (if required).
  • Risk assess the meeting room setting and share with you our control measures as appropriate.
  • Permit you to wear your choice of appropriate PPE and support you to feel safe.

You will need to…

  • Follow this policy and advise us of any reason why you would be unable to.
  • Ask for help if you are unsure what is expected of you or if you need any additional support to feel safe.
