Hypnotherapy Diploma Course in London

Professional Hypnotherapy Diploma

+ National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) International Certification

+ Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD) Level 4

Are you looking for the best accredited hypnotherapy training in the UK? Perhaps you are considering becoming a trained full-time or part-time professional hypnotherapist? Maybe you are seeking a second income or even a rewarding hobby. If so, our hypnotherapy diploma is precisely what you need to kickstart your career or take an existing career to a new level. This comprehensive course covers everything you need to know and is suitable for complete beginners, those with general experience or background knowledge, and even those who are already qualified and wish to upskill.

Our diploma in hypnotherapy equips you with the skills you need to work professionally with clients in clinical practice, as well as dealing with the broader non-clinical issues, such as personal development and sports performance. The depth and breadth of this course, together with expert tuition, makes it one of the most comprehensive and practical hypnotherapy programmes available in the UK and internationally.

This course is a highly practical course, with focus given to helping you to develop the hypnotherapy skills needed to be able to work effectively with a diverse range of clients. Rather than being reliant on hypnotherapy scripts and rigid protocols, you will learn how to adapt novel and well established techniques to enable your therapy to best suit your clients’ needs. The practical skills that you will develop will be underpinned by a strong theoretical knowledge.

Upon completing your diploma in hypnotherapy, you will have developed skills in understanding how to identify client issues and goals and how to best create positive changes and outcomes. You will also have learned how to manage your hypnotherapy practice, how to market your hypnotherapy business effectively; and you will have improved your communication skills. In addition, with the development of your knowledge and skills, you will have the competence to work with confidence. Furthermore, the skills you learn with us throughout your training will benefit both your personal and professional life.

As well as receiving the prestigious HypnoTC Hypnotherapy Diploma, upon successful completion of this course, you will also receive the Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD), which is a Level 4 qualification accredited by NCFE and the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), as well as the internationally recognised NGH Certification, provided by the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH). The HypnoTC diploma and the Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD) demonstrate that your training meets and exceeds the UK core curriculum for hypnotherapy training. In addition, the NGH Certification is recognised worldwide. Together, these three qualifications will set you apart from the competition as a professional hypnotherapist.

In Brief

The HypnoTC Hypnotherapy Diploma is a comprehensive qualification that blends theory and practical applications. It will give you a sound foundational knowledge and real world, hands-on experience on which to develop you skillset whilst practicing hypnotherapy professionally.

Our award-winning, accredited course meets and exceeds the UK Hypnotherapy National Occupational Standards and Core Curriculum requirements. It is widely recognised as one of the strongest hypnotherapy training courses worldwide.

We have strategically designed the HypnoTC Diploma training to give you the depth of knowledge and practical experience you need in order to set up and effectively run your own professional hypnotherapy practice.

What You'll Learn (Overview)

You will learn all about hypnosis and hypnotherapy, including several safe and highly effective ways to hypnotise clients, deepen and intensify the state of hypnosis, and wake people up.

Within the course, we cover a diverse range of effective and ethical hypnotherapy techniques, and both evidence-based and practice-based theories. These include analytical, cognitive, behavioural, Ericksonian, NLP, metaphorical and regression approaches.

Additionally, we recognise hypnotherapy is a business. As such, we teach you how to start, market and grow your thriving therapy practice.

Our key aim is for you to be a confident, competent hypnotherapist upon graduation.

For full course details, see the Course Syllabus section below.

Course Details

During the course, you will gain strategic knowledge that equips you with hypnotherapy essentials, enabling you to run a hypnotherapy practice with confidence.

Our in-person training consists of 20 full days (9 am to 5 pm) with qualified, accredited instructors.

We allow time for you to practice, develop knowledge and grow skills by scheduling the classes over 10 weekends across 10 months.

Your training is enhanced by access to a library of 80+ hypnotherapy training videos via our Student Learning Centre.

Overall, you will engage in 450 hours of total study time, including classroom hours and home study.

Our Hypnotherapy Diploma course has been externally assessed and accredited at Practitioner Level by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC/GHR) and has been further accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH).

The HPD (NCH) has been externally assessed and accredited as a Level 4 course by NCFE.

Qualified elsewhere and not satisfied?

Unfortunately, not all hypnotherapy training is created equal!

If you have already taken a hypnotherapy course elsewhere with a different hypnotherapy training provider, and you:

We can help you.

At HypnoTC, we make sure everyone receives the most thorough training possible. We frequently have candidates join us who’ve already completed a course with another school but have left feeling unconfident and under-qualified.

We offer our re-training/ upskilling service at a hugely discounted rate because we want you to become the best therapist you can be.

Course Structure

We teach you in a supportive classroom environment. Each tuition day includes lectures, presentations and discussions on hypnosis and hypnotherapy theory, together with practical demonstrations, group activities and lots of technique practice. Additional online materials supplement and go beyond the course notes. We give you 20 full days (9am-5pm) in the classroom. Training days are grouped into 10 separate training weekends over a duration of 10 months.

As well as attending class, students need to complete home study assignments and keep a coursework portfolio. Although personal study time varies according to individual needs, we suggest you allow between 8 to 10 hours each week for homework. Please note that homework is mandatory, and needs to be completed in order to receive your certifications.

Total tuition and study hours, including classroom time and all home study assignments, will total around 450 hours. The UK Core Curriculum indicates that face-to-face training must be at least 120 hours and home study must meet/ exceed 330 hours. Excluding breaks, our classroom teaching totals 130 hours.

Course Assessment

You will take part in a range of theoretical assignments which are strategically designed to develop and test your knowledge throughout the course. These draw upon literature, personal research and your individual application of learned skills. There is also ongoing tutor and self-assessment, together with feedback on your practical skill development.

Homework

Each weekend you are given homework assignments to support the material covered in class. Homework is individually marked and assessed by your tutor. Completion of all homework to the required standard is mandatory to pass the course and to receive your certification. The HPD portfolio is worked on during the course and must be completed to the required standard within 6 months of the date of course completion.

Case Studies

You must complete three ‘case studies’ before the final weekend of the course. These give you the opportunity to work all the way through the therapy process and to reflect on the process and your skills.  There are both single and multiple session case study requirements.

Examinations

On the final weekend, you will take examinations that must be passed for you to receive your qualifications. Your final tests comprise three separate parts.

There is a short answer paper (1 hour), which examines the breadth of the course theory and practical concepts. A case history paper (1.5 hours) examines your treatment planning and knowledge of techniques. The practical exam (25 mins) assesses your delivery, your knowledge of taught techniques, and your ability to work safely and independently of scripts. The pass mark is a minimum of 80% in each exam.

You receive your exam results and feedback at the end of the final day, prior to the awarding of certificates.

Once qualified you can upgrade to full hypnotherapist insurance (they’ll need to see evidence of your qualification). Those students with a pre-existing therapy insurance policy may be able to add hypnotherapy to said policy – check with your insurance provider directly for clarification.

What happens if somebody fails the final exam?

Our diploma course is very comprehensive and you will be fully prepared for the final examination process.

Throughout the course you will be engaging with in-class activities, homework tasks and also a number of formal and informal mock exams. All of this practice will fully prepare you for your exams, and we’re here to support you all the way.

If it were to happen that you ended up requiring a re-sit, we’d give you the first re-sit absolutely free (additional re-sits, if required, would be at extra cost, as listed above in the ‘Course Fees’ section).

What if I miss a day/weekend?

If, for any reason, you miss a course day or weekend, we have a 1-to-1 catch up facility, so that you can meet with one of our tutors (either online or in person) in order to cover the material that you missed.

Catch up sessions are mandatory in order for you to make up your course hours and cover the training materials, in line with the UK Core Curriculum for Hypnotherapy.

As mentioned above in the ‘Course Fees – Extra Costs’ section, catch up sessions are at an additional cost which is not included in the standard course fee. If you miss over 2 days (10%) of the course, the normal catch up day fee (£90) is then succeeded by an ‘hourly fee’ of £45. This is in order to make up your hours to ensure that your training meets the UK Core Curriculum requirements.

What if I don't complete my homework?

As mentioned above, completion of all homework is a mandatory requirement of the course. All homework activities must be completed (in a timely manner) in order for you to meet the UK Core Curriculum for hypnotherapy training and to receive your certification.

All homework must be completed and returned for marking before the final weekend of the course. If by the final course weekend, you still have outstanding homework (regardless of how well you do in the exam), you will not be eligible for certification.*

*Allowances can be made for students with exceptional circumstances.

Is this a legitimate, recognised hypnotherapy qualification?

Yes. The highly sought-after diploma qualification meets (and exceeds) the National Occupational Standards for Hypnotherapy and also the UK Core Curriculum for Hypnotherapy. The course has also been externally accredited by a number of professional organisations – click here to visit our Accreditations and Certification page.

Is there an intensive/1-to-1 option?

For those who cannot make it to the main course (dates above), or who wish to undertake the course in an ‘intensive’ format, we offer a number of 1-to-1 training options. However, due to the duration, the 1-to-1 training fee is significantly higher than the standard course fee.

To learn more about our 1-to-1 hypnotherapy training options click here for details.

Is there ongoing support and development available?

Yes. All students and graduates are able to access telephone and email support during and after qualification with us. We also have a private student forum, where students can engage with fellow students, past graduates and HypnoTC tutors for continued support and development.

We also advise our students and graduates to engage in supervision/mentoring and ongoing CPD (continuing professional development). This is not mandatory (by us), but some professional hypnotherapy associations require their members to do so. We have a number of supervision and CPD options available all year round. Check out the ‘Hypnotherapy Training’ tab on the main menu for more information.

Can I get a discount?

We offer a 10% discount for members of the armed forces (and ex-forces).
