Research Skills Workshop
Develop your research skills...
The aim of this Research Skills Workshop is to make research easy to understand, easy to incorporate into your practice, and easy to conduct for yourself!
In this interactive and practical workshop, you will gain skills that will enable you to understand the research process, interpret and assess published research; and apply relevant principles and concepts within your therapy practice.
You will discover what ‘evidence-based practice’ and ‘practice-based evidence’ offer hypnotists, hypnotherapists and talking therapists. Such understanding and use of contemporary research can really adding depth and breadth to your knowledge and enhance your practice.
A great way of gaining a deeper research awareness, is to conduct your own research. This workshop will also help you explore ways that you could audit your own practice, as well as conducting experimental research and systematic reviews. Undertaking audits and research can also benefit your practice, providing a richer understanding of your own work.
To illustrate the research process, a six-stage model for conducting research will be introduced. Each stage, of concept, design, pilot, active research, analysis, and writing up, will be discussed. Aspects of quantitative and qualitative approaches will be considered, together with varied methodology and methods, such as interviewing and the use of questionnaires. Time will also be spent considering the process for data analysis, including thematic analysis and statistical analysis.
As a result of participating in this workshop, you will gain an insight into the different types of research possible for the hypnotherapy practitioner to use and to undertake, together with the clear advantages this will offer.
